As I went for my walk around the park today I paused to observe a tree.
I started imagining what it must look like from the perspective of a fly. How each leaf – seemingly soo small – must be the size of an entire house.
How the whole tree is its neighbourhood. How the park is its city. The neighbourhood its country. The whole city its world. The whole world its galaxy…
At this point I realised the world is well beyond what the fly could ever comprehend. The fly has no idea just how small it really is.
Not. A. Clue.
Then it occurred to me.
I’m no different.
It occurred to me.
I am the fly.
Beautiful poem, AP2! Excellent composition, expressive. I enjoyed reading this. 🙂 Have a great weekend! Cheryl

Even smaller than a fly — and you could be a virus? A microscopic killer of the giant known as Man! From Elephants and Whales to microbial bacteria, isn’t it a wonder how everything on our planet is so intricately connected. Mother Nature the true wonder of this world.

Yeah exactly. Scale is more accurately represented by something much much smaller than a fly!

Hey Pilot no worries man, your fly comparison was bang on. Easier to make a comparison with something that you can see with the naked eye! Gives us a real time visual scope of things. And what else would a pilot choose? Something that “Flies” right? Later Ace! — Keep your eyes on the prize!

Wow. So well put. Loved it. Yes, what else are if not as tiny as flies before this monstrosity of universe. What could we possibly know about the world? Beautiful. 👏👏🙏

This is a beautiful piece of writing. Thank you for sharing it, and reminding us all how small we are. I believe this is encouragement to focus on being present where we are, where we can out in our best effort.

Thanks Hamish – I’m glad you liked it. Good deduction – recently I think I’ve been thinking too much about larger issues way out of my control instead of focusing on what I can – this is far better for ones sanity! Wishing you well, AP2
