You should love your family most, but you must love yourself first. Otherwise it becomes impossible to do the former.
Why I Write
The seeds of doubt were planted at a young age. I can’t tell you exactly when, but I know it started in childhood. I was lead to believe I wasn’t capable, that I would struggle in this life. In particular, concerns surrounded my abilities in English. At first, my parents worried that I had a … Read more Why I Write
The Only Thing The World Needs From You
“Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.” – Howard Thurman (Source: The Living Wisdom of Howard Thurman: A Visionary for Our Time) I know what you’re thinking. You’re thinking, ‘what do you mean the ONLY … Read more The Only Thing The World Needs From You
Why Everything Scares You To Death
The other night, while I was trying to sleep, I started thinking about the post I wrote last week where I stated that hatred is driven – at its core – by a fear of death. I couldn’t shake the feeling that I was missing something fundamental. Naturally this started to make me feel a little anxious. … Read more Why Everything Scares You To Death
The Secret Ingredient Missing From Every Conversation
That’s the most liberating, wonderful thing in the world, when you openly admit you’re an ass. It’s wonderful. When people tell me, “You’re wrong.” I say, “What can you expect of an ass?” S.J. Agreed. It’s very difficult to really see those in front of you when you’re feeling sorry for yourself. Thanks Omatra 🙏

I agree, as a friend of mine has said, “Love yourself first and foremost, everyone else comes second.” and although for me, helping others is like a reflex, we all should take that time to care and love ourselves before giving what we have away 😊

I learnt the hard way. When you don’t take good care of yourself you can become very self absorbed. Then you’re of little use to anyone. I think your ‘reflex’ demonstrates you’re at peace with who you are. Don’t let anyone take that peace away from you Janelle. It’s a super power! Wishing you the very best, AP2 🙏

Love your neighbour as you love yourself. Very difficult to do if you find it hard to love yourself. This is the very thing I’ve been working hard at for the past two years. Prayer has been immensely helpful for me in reconciling the feeling that “I’m not enough”, and flipping 180 degrees. The little improvements in my outlook on life have helped me to transfer that positivity to others too.
Thank you for the wisdom. Didn’t realise I had so much to say!
