Welcome to my travel page! Your guide on what to do in some of the worlds the most exciting cities (basically a list of my favourite places to eat)!
Most people should know why they are travelling to a certain part of the world. ie they already have a good idea about what they plan to see and do, so I don’t see much point in regurgitating what all the guide books have to say. On the other hand, I think most people are often at odds with regards to where and what they should eat when they get there.
My experience among the pilot body is that most of us fall into the trap of finding a good place to eat and drink, then spending every subsequent layover going back to the same old haunts, often afraid of trying new places in the event of having to suffer a terrible meal.
Early on in my career, during my third ever trip to Rome, the captain decided to take us to this ‘local gem of a restaurant he had discovered.’ It turned out to be the same restaurant the two previous captains had taken me to… Rome for the third time and I’d only managed to try out this one restaurant. Not that it was bad but it can’t be all Rome has to offer, I thought. This ends here. Ever since I’ve done my own extensive (and I mean extensive) research whenever I have a layover, on where and what to eat. I always try somewhere new (or at least take the crew somewhere new).
Below you’ll find these ‘layover guides’ listed under the cities I’ve visited. Every now and then, I’ll try my hand at a bit of travel writing and post about my adventures too with a focus on the sustainable and environmentally friendly. I hope you enjoy and Bon appetite!
